Horse Hollow Day Program began in the Summer of 2019 and has been going strong ever since! It all started when there were some very special horse crazy girls who wanted to be out on the ranch so badly, but were some conflicts with transportation. In my efforts to make my ranch accessible to what they needed, I created the skill building farm animal day program to support them. During the first year, I provided rides myself, and organized numerous ride shares for our participating students. Students will learn the ins and outs of horse care, and participate in activities such as horse riding, bathing horses, feeding and watering horses, blanketing horses, mane and tail styling, hoof painting, medical care, horse training, anatomy lessons, and more! In this program, students work on various farm to table life lab projects, such as growing food from seed, harvesting it, and preparing it into something edible, or breeding and caring for livestock, raising babies, taking them to market, processing meat, and preparing a meal. This program provides an opportunity for students to grow and demonstrate their respinsibility and opportunities to build relationships and hone skills that last a lifetime. Once something is learned, that can never be taken away!
This is a sports recreation program. This program is exempt from daycare licencing."Public recreation programs, including summer camps, are license-exempt if they operate only during non-school hours or for under 20 hours each week and fewer than 12 weeks each year. Before-and after-school programs that are operated by public or private schools are also license-exempt, as are the Boy and Girl Scouts, the Boys and girls Club, and similar organizations." https://www.childcarelaw.org
